Jamestown blood drive set for Monday at First United Methodist Church
Jamestown’s next blood drive can send lifesaving blood products to hospitals, and JRMC’s last drive showed the local impact: 32 donors, 42 products.

Blood on the shelf is what keeps surgery schedules moving, cancer patients treated and trauma victims from waiting for help. In Jamestown, that need will meet a local pickup point at First United Methodist Church, where Vitalant is holding a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 20, at 115 3rd St. SE.
The drive is listed for the church fellowship hall, turning a familiar downtown gathering place into a community supply line for patients who need blood products now, not later. Vitalant says it provides blood products and related services to about 900 hospitals across the country, and the American Red Cross says someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds. That makes even a single local drive part of a much larger system of care.
For Stutsman County, the value of a donation is easy to see in plain numbers. Jamestown Regional Medical Center’s first blood drive of 2026 brought in 32 donors and collected 42 lifesaving blood products through a partnership with Vitalant. A turnout like that can be the difference between a steady supply and a shortfall for patients who depend on transfusions during operations, cancer treatment or emergency care.
Vitalant says blood donors are needed every day, and healthy people who meet the general eligibility requirements are likely able to give blood. The timing gives Jamestown residents a few days to plan ahead, whether that means setting aside a lunch-hour stop or adjusting a Monday schedule to fit in a donation at the church on 3rd Street SE.
In a town the size of Jamestown, a drive like this works because neighbors show up. If appointment slots go unfilled, the burden shifts to hospitals and patients that still need the same blood products for the same urgent needs. Monday’s event is a straightforward chance to keep that local supply moving for the people who rely on it most.
