Jamestown duo Hronova, Roberts named to all-state doubles team

Anna Hronova and Elise Roberts put Jamestown girls tennis on the state map this spring, earning a spot on the 2026 Girls Tennis All-State Doubles Team after a run that carried the Blue Jays all the way to third place in North Dakota.

The North Dakota High School Activities Association named the Jamestown High School pair to the all-state doubles team on Monday, June 1, following a postseason in Grand Forks that confirmed how far the Blue Jays’ top tandem had come. Hronova and Roberts finished third in doubles at the state individual tournament and won five matches over the course of the event at Choice Health & Fitness.

That finish mattered because it was built, not handed out. Jamestown entered the postseason with a 5-4 record as a doubles team and then beat West Fargo Horace’s Katelyn Posl and Ellie Heilman, 6-2, 6-4, in the opening round. The Blue Jays followed that with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Red River’s Ruby Schneider and Kalli Block in the quarterfinals before falling in the semifinals to Minot’s Ava Thuner and Grace Olson, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).

For Jamestown, the recognition gives the program a visible reward after a season that demanded resilience. The Blue Jays finished 3-9 overall and 1-8 in conference play, and their home base at Bolinger Courts saw a season full of tight duals, adjustments and growth under head coach Isaac Mimong. Against that backdrop, Hronova and Roberts became the clearest proof that Jamestown could produce statewide-caliber talent even in a difficult team season.

Their postseason form matched what they showed earlier in the spring. Jamestown dropped a 6-3 dual to Dickinson on May 7, but Hronova and Roberts each earned wins. The duo also helped keep the Blue Jays competitive in a 5-4 loss to Minot North on May 5, and they contributed in doubles before Jamestown lost 6-3 to St. Mary’s in a West Region play-in dual on May 18. Jamestown also posted crossover victories over Wahpeton and Fargo North by 4-1 scores.

The all-state honor now places Hronova and Roberts among North Dakota’s top doubles teams and gives Jamestown girls tennis momentum to carry into the next season. For a program that fought through a challenging schedule, their finish at state showed what can happen when chemistry, consistency and belief come together at the right time.
