More than 700 works of art by students from kindergarten through 12th grade filled The Arts Center at 115 2nd Street SW this month, as the Jamestown Fine Arts Association opened its annual K-12 student exhibition in recognition of Arts in Our Schools Month.

The exhibition, which opened March 17 and runs through April 11, features pieces from students in Jamestown and Pingree spanning drawing, painting, mixed media, and more. The works are displayed in the association's professional gallery space, giving young artists the same setting used for adult and regional exhibitions.

A free public open house is scheduled for Thursday, March 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where community members can view the full exhibition and celebrate student achievement in person.

"Seeing over 700 works of art from students across our region is incredibly inspiring," said Cole Carpenter, Education and Exhibitions Director at the Jamestown Fine Arts Association. "This exhibition not only celebrates their creativity, but also highlights the vital role arts education plays in helping express themselves, build confidence, and celebrate all people within their community."

Executive Director Mindi Schmitz emphasized the broader significance of the timing. "Arts in Our Schools Month is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the impact of arts education and celebrate the creativity of our students," Schmitz said. "We are proud to provide a space where young artists can share their work with the community."

The exhibition and open house are free and open to the public. For more information, contact The Arts Center at (701) 251-2496 or visit jamestownarts.com.
