Jamestown Girls Hockey Shuts Out Williston, Wins Second Straight Game
Jamestown High School beat Williston 4 to 0 on Saturday, securing its second win in two days after a Friday victory over Minot United. The shutout highlighted improved goaltending and depth scoring, giving the Jays momentum as the team moves into the midseason stretch.

Jamestown High School closed out the 2025 portion of its season with a 4 to 0 victory over Williston on Saturday, a second straight win under head coach Andy Fitzgerald. The Blue Jays followed a Friday night triumph over Minot United to push their record to 2 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie overall.
Williston controlled the opening stanza, keeping Jamestown to just six shots on goal while sending 10 shots the other way. Blue Jay netminder Jovie Mahar turned aside every early attempt, but the Coyotes could not sustain that edge once the second period began. Izzy Maddock broke the deadlock early in the second off an assist from Stella Belzer. Belzer added another helper 10 seconds after Maddock's goal and then set up Maci Fisher for a goal at the 4:08 mark of the second period, giving Jamestown a multi goal cushion.

The margin grew in the third period when Grace Allmaras and Maddy Roaldson each found the net. Jamestown fired 13 shots on goal in the final period as the Blue Jays closed out the scoring. Goalie Ady Bakalar recorded 18 saves to preserve the shutout, and the defense limited Williston scoring opportunities after the first period push.
Statistically the game illustrated two encouraging trends for Jamestown. First, the team produced more quality chances late in the game, outshooting Williston 13 to an opponent total for the third period. Second, the tandem of Mahar and Bakalar provided stability in net, a prerequisite for turning competitive outings into wins. The scoring contributions included a key role from sophomore Stella Belzer, whose consecutive assists in the second period helped unlock Williston defensive coverage.
For the local community the back to back wins offer reason for optimism as the Jays look to build consistency and develop younger players in the roster. The shutout will be a confidence boost for a team still shaping its identity, and the performance on both ends of the ice gives Jamestown a clearer foundation as the season continues into the new year.
