Jamestown girls tennis falls at Mandan, heads to regional play-in
Anna Hronova and Katelyn Monson gave Jamestown three points at Mandan, and the Blue Jays now head into Sunday’s regional play-in with momentum.

Anna Hronova and Katelyn Monson gave Jamestown the kind of scoring it can build on, winning singles matches and helping the Blue Jays leave Mandan with three points in a 6-3 dual loss at Mandan Middle School Courts on Thursday.
Hronova added a doubles win with Elise Roberts, making the final regular-season dual a clear snapshot of where Jamestown tennis has been most reliable: at the top of the lineup. The Blue Jays finished the match 3-8 overall and 1-8 in West Dakota Association duals, but the points from Hronova, Monson and Roberts showed Jamestown could still take flights against a league opponent and stay competitive through the evening.

That matters now because the season is not finished. Jamestown is listed for a dual at Bismarck St. Mary’s on Sunday, May 18, and the West Region tournament is set for May 21-23 at Hammond Park in Minot. NDHSAA’s girls tennis schedule lists the play-in round for May 17, with the team play-in deadline on May 18, keeping the Blue Jays in a tight postseason stretch as they try to turn individual wins into a team result.
The lineup has already shown flashes. Jamestown opened the 2026 season with a 7-2 loss to Legacy, then later beat Wahpeton and Fargo North in crossover duals on May 9. The Blue Jays were swept 9-0 by Minot on May 12, when Minot clinched at least a share of the West Dakota Association regular-season title, and they also fell 6-3 to St. Mary’s on April 21.

For Jamestown, the path forward is straightforward. Hronova and Monson have proven they can score in singles, and the doubles point with Roberts showed another route to wins when the Blue Jays get the right matchups. The next step is getting one or two more flights to join them. Under head coach Paul Olson, with assistants Evie Reynolds and brock Burkett, Jamestown now has a narrow window to turn those bright spots into postseason progress in Minot.
