City crews began clearing snow on emergency routes at 5 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, according to the Street Department, with downtown operations scheduled to start later that night. The Jamestown Sun notice said, “City crews will begin clearing snow on emergency routes at 5 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, according to the Street Department,” and that crews would begin downtown clearing “at 11 p.m. Thursday and continue until finished.”

The city’s posted sequence prioritized routes used for police, ambulance and general traffic before moving into neighborhoods. The Sun and the city site both relayed the operational order: “Once Emergency Routes are finished, they will begin snow removal in residential areas.” That residential work was limited by the city’s garbage and recycling calendar; the notice stated, “Snow removal will not be done on days in areas where garbage and recycling collections are scheduled.”

Officials also warned vehicle owners in the Downtown Business District to move parked cars overnight. The public notice instructed directly, “All vehicles should be removed from the streets, avenues, and alleyways.” The City of Jamestown web page and republished notices across NewsDakota and Yahoo carried the same directive and the contingency language used by the Street Department: “The above schedule is contingent upon changing weather conditions, snow accumulation totals, and blowing and drifting snow.”

Jamestown’s social posts added operational detail for emergency access. A City Instagram post said, “City Street Crews are working to clear a path at all fire stations, the Center for Public Safety, and the emergency entrance to the Onslow,” identifying those locations as explicit priority clearings beyond the general emergency-route network.

The city website also reminded residents of an earlier holiday shift that affected collection timing: “Please note that due to the President’s Day Holiday, there will be NO garbage or recycling collection on Monday, February 16, 2026. All routes will be delayed one day.” City Hall contact information and services were published alongside the schedule: City Hall is listed at 102 3rd Avenue SE, Jamestown, ND 58401, phone 701-252-5900, fax 701-252-5903, with office hours Monday–Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and online features including an Alert Center and notification subscriptions.

The published notices and social posts did not include crew counts, a street-by-street list of designated emergency routes, or enforcement details such as towing policies. The Street Department notices carried the schedule and priorities; downtown clearing proceeded overnight and city postings emphasized that completion times would depend on weather and drifting conditions.
