Jamestown's Depth, Moser Propel Blue Jays Past Mandan 106-79
Jamestown beat Mandan 106-79 as depth and Finn Moser's multiple victories anchored a balanced Blue Jays performance, a win that reinforces community investment in youth health and school athletics.

Depth and balanced scoring carried Jamestown to a 106-79 dual meet victory over Mandan, highlighted by standout swims from senior freestyler Finn Moser. Moser won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.57 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:05.30, and he anchored both the 400- and 200-yard freestyle relays to first-place finishes, showing the kind of individual excellence that complements broad team contribution.
Head coach Ben Smith guided the Jamestown High School boys' swimming and diving squad through a meet that saw top finishes across relays, freestyle, individual medley, diving and stroke events. The 400-yard freestyle relay of Moser, Zach Hanson, Kaden Fabian and Gavin Klocke touched first in 3:48.43. The 200-yard freestyle relay of Hanson, Fabian, Klocke and Moser won in 1:34.18. Kaden Fabian also claimed the 50-yard freestyle, Andrew Olson won the 200-yard individual medley, and Tyler Klabo took the 100-yard breaststroke, underlining that scoring came from multiple lanes and multiple swimmers.
Jamestown was scheduled to be back in its home pool later in the week hosting the Jamestown Octagon invite, giving swimmers a chance to build on momentum against a broader field. For Stutsman County residents, the result matters beyond the scoreboard. Strong participation and competitive results like these reflect sustained access to aquatics programming at the high school level, which supports physical fitness, mental health and social connection for adolescents. Investing in locker rooms, pools and coaching pays dividends in youth well-being and helps reduce disparities for students who lack other recreational options.
Jamestown's victory also illustrates the value of team depth in sports that are often perceived as individual. Relays accounted for significant points, and contributions from swimmers across the lineup prevented overreliance on any single athlete. That balance makes the program more resilient to injury or absence and keeps more students engaged in regular physical activity.
Local athletic success can translate into community benefits: higher attendance at meets, volunteer opportunities, and a stronger case for school and municipal support for facilities and coaching staff. As Jamestown prepares to host the Octagon invite, fans and families in Jamestown and surrounding communities can expect to see the Blue Jays’ full roster challenged and measured under a bigger competitive lens.
The win over Mandan gives Jamestown not only a clear margin on the scoreboard but momentum toward upcoming meets and a tangible example of how school sports contribute to community health, school pride and equitable opportunities for Stutsman County youth.
