Jamestown Regional Medical Center announced that community donations met a $160,000 Giving Hearts Day goal to fully fund the Hugs® and Kisses® Pediatric Protection System, which will be installed in JRMC’s Family BirthPlace to upgrade pediatric safety technology. The JRMC Foundation credited local generosity for closing the fundraising gap that hospital leaders had identified for the equipment purchase.

“This year’s Giving Hearts Day was especially meaningful,” Tonya Perkins, JRMC Foundation director, told the Jamestown Sun. “Because of our donors, we met our $160,000 goal and ensured that the Hugs and Kisses Pediatric Protection System is fully funded. That means enhanced safety and peace of mind for every family welcoming a baby at JRMC.” The Jamestown Sun also reported that matching gifts, alongside community donations, helped JRMC secure the full funding.

Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour giving event hosted by the Dakota Medical Foundation, and JRMC was one of 20 Jamestown non-profits participating in this year’s campaign, the hospital’s news post noted under the headline “JRMC celebrates reaching its 2025 Giving Hearts Day goal.” JRMC’s site further recorded that since its inception in 2008, Giving Hearts Day has helped charities across North Dakota and northwest Minnesota raise more than $225 million, underscoring the regional scale of the fundraising effort.

Donors reached the $160,000 target during the Giving Hearts Day campaign on Feb. 21, 2026, JRMC staff said, a result hospital leaders framed as part of the independent, nonprofit medical center’s ongoing effort to fund needs that reimbursement does not cover. As the Jamestown Sun phrased it, “As an independent, nonprofit medical center, JRMC relies on philanthropic support to fund critical needs beyond what reimbursement covers, including patient care technology, equipment upgrades, staff education and community health initiatives.”

The JRMC site also highlighted the foundation’s broader work and encouraged ongoing support, noting that donations to support JRMC’s mission are accepted year-round through the hospital’s giving page. The Jamestown Sun reported the JRMC Foundation is already seeking match donors to build momentum for the next Giving Hearts Day, and that the next event is scheduled for Feb. 11, 2027.

“Giving Hearts Day is a remarkable opportunity for our community to come together and invest in the future of healthcare,” Tonya Perkins said on JRMC’s news page. The hospital’s news feed running alongside the Giving Hearts Day post also named recent items including recognition of CEO Mike Delfs for leadership and a DAISY Award for Caitlin Striefel, positioning the Foundation’s success within JRMC’s larger community and clinical initiatives. With the $160,000 goal met, JRMC says the Hugs® and Kisses® Pediatric Protection System will be installed in the Family BirthPlace to provide the upgraded pediatric safety technology donors funded.
