JRMC wound center earns national distinction, clinical excellence honors
JRMC's wound center now ranks among the nation's best, a recognition that means faster healing and fewer long trips for Stutsman County patients.

For Stutsman County patients living with diabetic wounds, infected surgical sites or other hard-to-heal injuries, Jamestown Regional Medical Center’s wound center now carries national validation for work that can shorten recovery and keep care close to home. JRMC’s Advanced Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center earned both the Healogics Center of Distinction award and the Robert A. Warriner III, Clinical Excellence award, recognition that matters far beyond hospital branding for people who depend on specialized wound care in Jamestown.
The distinction is especially important in a county where access can shape healing. JRMC describes its wound and hyperbaric center as the only advanced wound-healing center in North Dakota, and says it has more than a decade of wound-care experience through the program. That gives local patients and referring providers a nearby option for chronic and non-healing wounds, instead of sending people across the state for specialized outpatient treatment and hyperbaric care.

Healogics says the Center of Distinction award requires patient satisfaction of at least 92 percent, a wound-adjusted comprehensive healing rate of at least 77 percent and an outlier rate of 16 percent or less. The Clinical Excellence award goes to centers in the top 10 percent of eligible wound-care centers based on wound-adjusted comprehensive healing rate. JRMC said more than 92 percent of its patients report satisfaction with care, and its wound-care page says the center’s median healing time is 21 days.

That performance has practical consequences for people managing conditions that can linger for months without the right treatment. JRMC says its wound center treats diabetic wounds, venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers, surgical wounds, soft tissue wounds, traumatic wounds and infected wounds. Its specialty page also lists carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness, gas embolism, crush injuries, necrotizing fasciitis, gas gangrene, compromised grafts, chronic refractory osteomyelitis, osteoradionecrosis and soft tissue radionecrosis.

The recognition also reinforces the center’s place in the region’s healthcare system. JRMC has said it partnered with Healogics to establish onsite outpatient programs focused on chronic and non-healing wounds, and President and CEO Mike Delfs has said access to high-quality wound care makes a difference in healing outcomes, including when the hospital expanded wound care services to Carrington. For Jamestown and surrounding communities, the awards signal that advanced specialty care is not just available locally, it is performing at a level measured against national benchmarks.
