Medina-Pingree/Buchanan Boys Basketball Advances Deep Into Region 1B Tournament
Medina-Pingree/Buchanan's boys basketball team reached the Region 1B championship game in Valley City on March 10, drawing roaring support from fans across the co-op's small towns.

Medina-Pingree/Buchanan's boys basketball team punched its ticket to the Region 1B championship game on Tuesday, March 10, with fans from the co-op's small-town communities filling the stands in Valley City to celebrate the deepest postseason run the program had made in recent memory.
The advancement set up a championship showdown against Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier, scheduled to tip off at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 11, back in Valley City. The run through the Region 1B bracket during the week of March 9-12 drew vocal support from fans spread across the small-town communities represented by the co-op program, a coalition that stitches together the communities of Medina, Pingree, and Buchanan under a single roster.
Photographer John M. Steiner captured the atmosphere courtside for the Jamestown Sun, with images showing a packed fan section and a bench erupting in celebration on March 10. The co-op format, common in Class B North Dakota basketball, pools players from multiple small schools to field competitive rosters, and the Region 1B run gave residents from each of those communities a shared reason to make the trip to Valley City.

Scores from the March 10 contest that secured the championship berth, along with the final result of the Thursday night title game against Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier, were not available at the time of this report. Full box scores, player statistics, and postgame reaction from the coaching staff are expected to follow as the Jamestown Sun continues its tournament coverage.
