North Dakota Farm Bureau Opens Scholarships, $2,500 Volunteer Award

The North Dakota Farm Bureau announced on December 24 that it is accepting applications for a range of scholarships to support students studying agriculture. The foundation will award multiple $1,000 scholarships across five categories, and a single $2,500 Student Volunteer Scholarship will be granted to a student who has volunteered through the Farm Bureau. Applicants must submit materials by March 1, 2026 at ndfb.org/edusafe/scholarships.

Scholarship categories include support for college students pursuing an agriculture related degree, a Farm Bureau family member scholarship, awards for high school seniors who plan to enroll in any agriculture related post secondary program, and the Becki Palmer Scholarship which recognizes academic achievement and leadership among high school seniors. The Student Volunteer Scholarship is awarded using a point system. Students earn points through volunteer service and can gain additional points by becoming student members of the Farm Bureau.

Funding for this year’s awards comes from the NDFB Foundation with a significant portion raised at a live auction during the Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in November. The Promotion and Education Committee sponsored the auction, which raised over $22,000 to support scholarships and educational efforts across the state.

For Stutsman County students the awards offer practical financial relief for tuition and related costs that can otherwise be a barrier to post secondary education. Scholarships targeted at agriculture related study are also part of a longer term effort to sustain a skilled workforce in North Dakota’s agricultural economy. Even modest awards such as $1,000 can lower borrowing needs for students from rural households, while the $2,500 volunteer scholarship rewards community engagement that many local employers value.
