Patti DeBuck, 90, Jamestown resident dies at SMP Health Feb. 25

Patti DeBuck, 90, who ran businesses in Montpelier and served as that city's mayor, died peacefully Wednesday morning, Feb. 25, 2026, at SMP Health - Ave Maria in Jamestown, according to her funeral-home obituary.

"Patti was born on July 26, 1935, in Jamestown, the daughter of Berdeen and Jessie (Hubbard) Johnson," the obituary says. She grew up in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School before marrying Harvey on Feb. 3, 1956, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Jamestown.

After their marriage, Patti and Harvey lived in Jamestown, moved to the family farm near Ypsilanti, and later settled in Montpelier where they owned and operated the Farmer’s Bar and, later, the DeBuck Grocery Store. Patti also worked as a cook at the Montpelier School for many years and, the obituary notes, "she was also Mayor of Montpelier." The obituary does not list dates for her mayoral service.

When Patti and Harvey returned to Jamestown, she held a series of local positions: she worked at the Fair Store, Bostwicks, served as dispatch for James River Transit, and worked at the James River Senior Center. She volunteered at Ave Maria/Heritage Centre, "taking patients to appointments," and maintained a long affiliation with the Eagle’s Auxiliary, "Patti was a member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary for over 55 years."

Beyond work and civic life, Patti enjoyed the Jamestown Speedway, square dancing and bowling, the obituary says, and placed high value on family. The funeral-home listing includes a profile photo and options to share the obituary, add memories, and send flowers or cards; it also states it will notify followers when service details or new memories are added.
