Carlie Ann Schroeder, 30, of Steele pleaded guilty to criminal trespass as a Class C felony after prosecutors accused her of climbing through the window of another person's dwelling on Sept. 14 and entering or remaining on the premises without authorization.

Judge Jay Schmitz sentenced Schroeder on March 14 in Southeast District Court in Jamestown to 29 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center, crediting her with 16 days already served. Schmitz also placed Schroeder on one year of supervised probation and ordered her to pay three separate fees: a $400 criminal administration fee, a $100 defense and facility administration fee, and a $25 victim-witness fee.

Schroeder also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor, in connection with the same matter. The felony trespass charge carried a statutory maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine; the misdemeanor carried a maximum of 30 days and a $1,500 fine.

The sentence follows a separate felony case in Southeast District Court in which Jamestown resident Joshua Dwaine Buss, 46, pleaded guilty to prohibited acts involving controlled substances, also a Class C felony. Buss was accused of possessing methamphetamine on Nov. 29 with prior convictions recorded in both 2024 and 2025. Judge Daniel Narum sentenced Buss to five years in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation with all five years suspended, and placed him on 18 months of supervised probation.
