Valley City organizers are aiming to draw at least 200 people to Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, March 28, for a noon rally joining hundreds of similar "No Kings 3" protests scheduled nationwide that day.

The half-hour event, running from noon to 12:30 p.m. at the park on the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue, is coordinated locally by Angie Martin and Arlene Andrus, both of Valley City. The turnout goal reflects growth from the city's previous installment: about 150 people showed up for Valley City's "No Kings 2" protest in October.

"We're hoping to increase that number to at least 200 on March 28," Martin said.

In a news release, Martin and Andrus described the broader movement as having expanded significantly since its origins. "What began in 2025 as a single day of protest has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading across every community determined to defend democracy," they said. "Peaceful protest is the historical foundation of American democracy," they added.

Andrus framed the Valley City rally in constitutional terms. "These protests rise at a pivotal moment, in response to ongoing attacks on the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, immigrant communities, and the rule of law itself," she said.

Organizers are emphatic about conduct at the event. Martin said all No Kings events are committed to nonviolence: no weapons are allowed, and participants must seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who may disagree.

The March 28 rally will be one of hundreds of No Kings 3 events taking place across the country that day, according to organizers.
