Weather Forces HHS Office Closures, Jamestown Services Delayed
On December 18, North Dakota Health and Human Services closed or delayed multiple regional offices amid hazardous weather and road conditions, including delays at Jamestown offices that serve Stutsman County. The disruption affected behavioral health clinics, vocational rehabilitation and child support services, prompting alternative options for urgent needs.

On Thursday, December 18, North Dakota Health and Human Services temporarily closed or reduced hours at several regional offices because of hazardous weather and road conditions. The department closed offices in Devils Lake, Grand Forks and Minot that directly serve clients, while offices in Williston and Minot delayed opening until 10 a.m. The closures and delays extended to behavioral health clinics and regional vocational rehabilitation and child support offices across the state.
Locally in Stutsman County, the South Central Behavioral Health Clinic and the regional vocational rehabilitation and child support offices in Jamestown delayed opening until noon on December 18. The clinic outreach office in Valley City was also affected by the delayed schedule. The North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown remained open and was not affected by the weather related changes.

Statewide, the Lake Region Behavioral Health Clinic and related vocational rehabilitation and child support offices in Devils Lake and the clinic outreach office in Rolla were closed. The Northeast Behavioral Health Clinic and the regional vocational rehabilitation and child support offices in Grand Forks and the clinic outreach office in Grafton were closed. In the Fargo region, Southeast Behavioral Health Clinic and regional vocational rehabilitation and child support offices delayed opening until noon. The Life Skills and Transition Center in Grafton remained open and was not affected by the closures.
The department said decisions were made for the safety of clients and team members and aligned with closures of other community clinics and government organizations. Child support customers were able to conduct business online at hhs.nd.gov/childsupport at any time. People experiencing a behavioral health crisis were advised to call the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for immediate help, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The department anticipated resuming normal business hours at all locations on Friday, December 19. Stutsman County residents can check HHS Facebook and X pages and the department website for updated weather related office information.
