Yvonne Szarkowski, Lifelong Stutsman County Resident, Dies at 92
Yvonne Szarkowski, born and raised in Jamestown, died five days before her 93rd birthday at SMP Health–Ave Maria.

Yvonne Szarkowski, 92, who was born in Jamestown and spent her entire life rooted in Stutsman County, died quietly in her sleep on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at SMP Health–Ave Maria in Jamestown. She was five days from her 93rd birthday.
Born March 26, 1933, to Paul and Mabel (Fox) Albrecht, Szarkowski was a Jamestown native who grew up to become a lasting presence in both the city and the surrounding Rose Township community. She graduated from St. John's Academy in 1951, joining a class that came of age in postwar Jamestown before the interstate era reshaped the region.
The Jamestown Sun described her as a longtime community presence who spent decades as part of the Jamestown and Rose Township communities. Her memorial, handled in partnership with Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, lists her under her maiden name Albrecht, reflecting a life that began and ended in the same county where she was born more than nine decades ago.
