22-Year-Old Central Islip Man Reported in Silver Alert Found Safe

Michael Hudson, 22, of Central Islip, was reported missing at about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3 and has been located unharmed, Suffolk County police said Wednesday. Hudson had been the subject of a Silver Alert after making suicidal statements, police said.

Suffolk County uses the Silver Alert program to push missing-person information for those with special needs: "A Silver Alert is a Suffolk County program that allows law enforcement to share information with media outlets about individuals with special needs who have been reported missing." The alert was issued for Hudson following the March 3 report from his Tree Ave. residence in Central Islip.

A Suffolk County Police press release described Hudson's appearance and last-seen clothing in detail: "Hudson is Black, 6 feet tall, 215 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair and a beard, and was last seen wearing a dark colored Gucci jacket." Police did not provide a photograph in the release reproduced by local outlets.

Police reports identify Hudson's address location as Tree Ave. in Central Islip and repeat the missing report time of about 8:30 p.m. on March 3. "Police said Wednesday that Hudson has since been found safe," the statement added, but the notice did not specify where or when he was located or whether he received medical or mental-health assistance after being found.

The press release reproduced by local media also contained the verbatim sentence, "Detectives are asking anyone with information on Jarmel’s location to call 911 or Third Squad detectives at 631-854-8352." That reference to the name Jarmel does not match Michael Hudson and appears to be an inconsistency in the reproduced notice; the Third Squad number printed is 631-854-8352 and 911 remains the emergency contact.

Suffolk County Police have not released further details about the circumstances of Hudson's recovery or any follow-up actions.
