A lunch stop at Pepperoni’s Pizza in Springs turned violent just before noon Sunday when East Hampton police said Daniel Garduno, 28, struck a victim over the head with a glass wine bottle during a verbal dispute.

Police arrested Garduno after investigating the scene and said he faced charges of assault, intent to cause physical injury with a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was held at East Hampton Town Police Department headquarters and was scheduled to be arraigned later the same day.

The case unfolded at 281 Springs Fireplace Rd., where Pepperoni’s Pizza lists Saturday and Sunday hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., making the assault especially jarring for a place that serves families, lunch crowds, and dinner traffic throughout the day. A fight in that setting can quickly spill into medical, legal, and public safety concerns for workers and customers who expect a routine meal, not a weapon allegation.

Police asked anyone with additional information to call 631-537-7575, a sign investigators were still piecing together witness accounts and the exact chain of events inside the restaurant. The child-endangerment count also adds another layer to the case, suggesting prosecutors viewed the incident as more serious than a standard bar or restaurant altercation.

Sunday’s arrest comes after other police cases tied to the same East Hampton pizzeria. In September 2025, The East Hampton Star reported that Daniel Colin-Garduno, then 27, was charged after allegedly throwing a flower pot at another man at Pepperoni’s Pizza, causing facial lacerations that required immediate medical attention. He was arrested at the scene, charged with second-degree assault, processed at village headquarters, and later arraigned in town court.

The address also surfaced in a separate 2023 case when police found a driver involved in a crash in the parking lot at 281 Springs-Fireplace Rd. and later charged him with drunken driving. Taken together, the incidents have made the Springs restaurant stand out for more than its menu, drawing attention to repeated police responses at a place that sits in the middle of everyday neighborhood life.
