A left turn onto Munsell Road ended with a Middle Island man in the hospital after an SUV hit his Honda Civic at the Medford intersection of Horseblock Road and Munsell Road.

Suffolk County Police said Acosta Feliciano, 55, was driving a 2007 Honda Civic northbound on Horseblock Road when he attempted to turn left onto Munsell Road at about 5:55 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026. His vehicle was struck by a 2021 Toyota Highlander driven by Joshua Narine, 28, of Centereach.

Feliciano was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Narine was also taken to the same hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police said no charges were filed in the crash.

The collision put a familiar Suffolk County intersection back in the spotlight. Horseblock Road and Munsell Road carry early-morning traffic through Medford, where turning movements can quickly become dangerous when drivers are trying to clear a busy crossroad and another vehicle is moving through the intersection. In this case, the crash happened in the low-light hours of the morning commute, when visibility and reaction time can matter most.

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating the two-vehicle crash. The case adds another serious injury collision to a stretch of roadway that local drivers use daily to move between Medford, Patchogue and surrounding parts of central Suffolk County. Even without criminal charges, the impact is immediate and personal: one driver faces serious injuries, another walks away with minor harm, and both vehicles are left in the middle of an intersection that will reopen to the same traffic pattern the next morning.
