A verbal fight inside a Neptune Avenue home turned into an arson case after police say Lisa Decaprio threatened to burn the house down and lit a pillow on fire, turning a domestic dispute into a fire risk in a dense Seaford neighborhood.

Nassau County police said the incident happened at 8:14 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026, at a residence on Neptune Avenue in Seaford. Detectives with the Seventh Squad said Decaprio, 59, was arguing with a 63-year-old man when the dispute escalated. Police said she began throwing items at him, then threatened to burn the house down and ignited a pillow.

The fire was extinguished before officers arrived, and no injuries were reported. Decaprio was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being arrested without incident, police said. She was later charged with Arson 2nd Degree and Harassment 2nd Degree.

The case shows how quickly a domestic argument can move from shouting to a life-threatening fire emergency inside a residential home. In neighborhoods like Seaford, where houses sit close together and families can be only feet apart, an intentionally set fire inside one residence can put adjoining homes and their occupants at risk before first responders even reach the block.

Decaprio was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday, April 11, 2026, in First District Court in Hempstead. Nassau County police identified the case as a Seventh Squad arrest, underscoring how seriously investigators treated the alleged conduct after what began as a domestic disturbance became a felony arson charge.
