Deputies and investigators with the Summit County Sheriff's Office are working to identify a deceased individual found on High View Road, a rural stretch near Browns Canyon Road in the Peoa area, after the discovery prompted an active investigation by the agency.

Sergeant Skyler Talbot, the Sheriff's Office spokesperson, confirmed that authorities "are actively investigating a situation in which a deceased individual was found on High View Road, near Browns Canyon Road, in Peoa." Talbot said the investigation remains in its earliest stages and that no additional information is available, including whether the death was accidental. The identity of the person has not been released.

"There is no known threat to public safety at this time," the Sheriff's Office said.

Peoa sits in the rural eastern reaches of Summit County, well removed from the resort corridors of Park City. High View Road and the surrounding Browns Canyon Road area are sparsely developed, set against terrain that in late March still carries significant snowpack. The remoteness of the location adds complexity to any field investigation, and the Sheriff's Office has not indicated whether additional agencies, such as the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner, have been called in.

Talbot offered no timeline for when further details, including cause of death or an identification, might be released. The investigation is described as preliminary, meaning core questions, including manner of death, still have no official answer.

The Sheriff's Office is expected to release additional information as the investigation develops.
