Deer Valley expansion adds Hail Peak lift, 200 acres for winter 26/27

Hail Peak Express will open access to 200 additional skiable acres at Deer Valley Resort for the 2026-27 winter season. The July update also added a family-friendly snow feature zone off Pioche Express and a 10-million-gallon reservoir adjacent to Park Peak to support more snowmaking.

The new lift is part of a buildout that will bring the resort to 4,500 skiable acres, 32 chairlifts and 209 runs across 10 mountain peaks. The expansion materials also project 932 acres of snowmaking coverage and 3,120 vertical feet, from 9,570 feet down to 6,450 feet. Todd Bennett, Deer Valley’s president and chief operating officer, said the coming winter builds on last season’s momentum and moves the resort closer to its long-term vision.

Hail Peak Express will move skiers from Deer Valley East Village onto the newest terrain on Hail Peak, while Pioche Express continues to connect the village to terrain on Pioche Point. East Village is being built out with skier services, lodging, retail, dining and day-skier parking, including 1,200 day-skier parking spaces that will shape arrival patterns and traffic at the base area.

The 2026-27 opening is one step in a phased project that ultimately includes 11 new chairlifts, including a 10-person gondola, and 3,700 acres of added skiable terrain. Deer Valley has added 11 new chairlifts since December 2024 and calls the project the largest resort expansion in ski industry history. The resort also projects 2,000 additional jobs tied to the broader buildout.

One of the new runs is called Hill Yeah, a nod to Hill Air Force Base and the resort’s Salute to Service efforts. The 2026-27 season follows Deer Valley’s July 2025 milestone update, when the resort said it would reach 31 lifts and 4,300 skiable acres for 2025-26, up from a pre-expansion baseline of 21 chairlifts, 103 runs and 2,026 acres.
