Deer Valley reopens bike haul and hiking access in June

Deer Valley is set to bring back lift-served biking and hiking just as summer traffic begins to build around Park City, giving season pass holders an early look on June 13 and 14 before opening to the public June 19. The reopening comes after trail work and construction closed some bike routes last season, and it puts nearly 60 miles of mountain bike trails back into play for riders and hikers.

The passholder Preview Weekend will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, with access reserved for Deer Valley Season Pass holders. Public summer operations begin June 19 and run through September 20, with lift-served access spread across Silver Lake Express, Sterling Express and Homestake Express. Deer Valley says bike park riders without a lift ticket or season pass will need a Deer Valley Pedal Pass and a signed waiver.

The resort is also pairing the reopening with a full slate of summer products. Bike lessons, rentals, season passes and lift tickets are all available for the 2026 season, and summer lift products were made available online starting April 23. Deer Valley’s Mountain Bike Rentals program says full-suspension bikes are tuned and ready for the trails, while its summer access pass offers unlimited lift-served mountain biking, hiking and scenic chairlift rides all season long.

For Summit County, the timing matters beyond recreation. Deer Valley is a major summer employer and a key draw in the local visitor economy, where mountain biking, hiking, scenic chairlift rides, golf, fly fishing, festivals and dining help keep the season moving after ski traffic fades. Roughly 65% of sales tax revenue in Summit County comes from nonresidents, a reminder of how much visitor spending shapes the county’s bottom line.

Deer Valley president and chief operating officer Todd Bennett said locals and visitors are being invited to experience more of Deer Valley after its “historic expansion” over the winter. That push will continue with the resort’s Twilight Ride Series, which runs Wednesdays from June 24 through August 19 from 4 to 8 p.m., weather and conditions permitting, adding another evening option for riders and visitors.

The summer slate also points to heavier traffic ahead. Deer Valley will host the Fox US Open of Mountain Biking Sept. 11-13 at Bald Eagle Mountain, the final stop of the official U.S. National Mountain Bike Championship series. Park City Council has approved a special event permit, and Deer Valley expects about 10,000 visitors that week, giving the reopening added weight as the resort moves into a busier and more visible summer season.
