Aggies Upset Ranked MACU 4-3, Senior Day Set for Friday
De Jong's grand slam gave OPSU all four of its runs, and Bryan Montano went the full nine innings as the Aggies stunned No. 18 MACU 4-3 in baseball Friday.

De Jong launched a grand slam and Bryan Montano went the distance on the mound as the Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies upset No. 18-ranked Mid-America Christian University 4-3 Friday, extending their winning streak to four games and strengthening their postseason case in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
De Jong's bases-loaded blast accounted for all four Aggie runs, a single swing that gave Montano exactly the margin he needed. Montano completed all nine innings, surrendering three runs while the defense held behind him when it mattered most. Protecting a one-run lead against a nationally ranked opponent without leaning on the bullpen is the kind of performance that defines a team's late-season identity.
In the NAIA's Sooner Athletic Conference, the difference between a home seed and a road trip in the postseason bracket often comes down to precisely these results: conference wins against ranked programs that add weight to a resume when the selection committee convenes. Four consecutive wins put OPSU in a position to shape, rather than react to, the final stretch of the regular season.
MACU, based in Oklahoma City, has been one of the SAC's most consistent programs and a reliable measuring stick for where Panhandle State stands. The 4-3 final puts a checkmark in a column that has been difficult for Goodwell to fill in recent seasons.
Highlights from the win are available through the OPSU Athletics website.
Senior Day ceremonies are set for the Aggies' home finale in Goodwell on Friday, the last opportunity for Texas County fans to see the senior class on their home field before the postseason begins. Game time and additional details are available through OPSU Athletics.
