Overtime belonged to the Tigers. Guymon took 69-63 and 71-64 leads with 2:10 remaining in OT and reached 73-65 before Liberal cut the margin to 73-70 with 40 seconds left. Guymon’s sophomore guard Alamayu Lire was fouled and made both free throws to finish the scoring and secure the 77-70 final.

Juan Diego scored 16 points and was designated the Black Hills Energy Player of the Game for Guymon. Liberal’s Prince Collins finished with a career-high 16, Alan Olvera posted a career-high 11, and James Fieser added 11 for the Redskins.

The matchup was the first meeting between the Guymon Tigers and the Liberal Redskins in three years. “Maybe they should play more often,” wrote Brock Kappelmann of KSCB in his game recap from Thursday night.

Liberal will host Southwestern Heights Friday night at about 7:45 on 1270 and 92.3 FM as the Redskins look to snap their skid while Guymon departs Liberal with a crucial overtime victory.
