Union County Man Arrested on Multiple Warrants After Rollover Crash Near Cove
Neighbors' door-knocking calls helped deputies catch Sean Tyler Hamilton, 37, who fled a Cove rollover crash carrying warrants from two states.

Sean Tyler Hamilton fled the scene of a rollover crash near Cove on the morning of March 19 only to find himself caught an hour later, cornered partly by the neighbors he had just been rattling awake.
Just after 6 a.m., a rollover accident was reported near Lower Cove Road and Kerns Loop. The driver told responding deputies that both he and Hamilton had been in the crash but that neither needed medical attention. When Union County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the scene, Hamilton was gone. Dispatch quickly flagged the problem: Hamilton had outstanding warrants.
Just after 7 a.m., calls began coming in from multiple neighbors in the area reporting a suspicious male knocking on doors and asking to be let inside. One neighbor called dispatch to report a man actively trying to force his way into a home; the homeowner refused to let him in. Those calls allowed law enforcement to narrow down Hamilton's location, and deputies, with assistance from the Oregon State Police, took him into custody.

The warrant list Hamilton was carrying stretched across two states. The Union County Sheriff's Office charged him locally with Burglary II, Escape III, and Parole Violation. He also faced two separate Umatilla County warrants: one for giving false information to a peace officer in connection with a citation, and a second for interfering with a peace/parole and probation officer along with Theft II and Criminal Trespass I. A third warrant, out of Washington, charged Hamilton with a protection order violation and two counts of Assault III.
Hamilton's date of birth is listed as September 18, 1988. No injuries were reported from the rollover crash, and the identity of the driver who remained at the scene has not been released by the sheriff's office.
