Comstock Border Patrol Agents Arrest Convicted Sex Offender Near Del Rio
Comstock Station agents arrested a 30-year-old Mexican national with child sex offense convictions from 2009 and 2010 who faces up to 20 years for illegal reentry.

Agents assigned to the U.S. Border Patrol's Comstock Station arrested a 30-year-old Mexican national on Jan. 16 after he crossed into the United States illegally, only to have records checks during processing expose a history of child sexual offenses and a prior deportation order.
The man carries two separate convictions for crimes against children: rape of a child in 2009 and aggravated sexual abuse of a child in 2010. He served several years in prison on those convictions before being issued a Final Order of Removal in 2015 and subsequently deported. His return to U.S. soil near Comstock triggered the reinstatement of that removal order.
Beyond the immigration consequences, the man faces a federal felony charge under 8 U.S.C. § 1326, illegal reentry after deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz pointed directly to the nature of the case in a statement following the arrest. "Our agents work hard to keep these predators out of our communities," Ortiz said. "I am proud of our agents and the work they do to keep our border secure."
The arrest originated with the Del Rio Sector, which covers a vast stretch of the Texas border region that includes Val Verde County and the Comstock area. CBP's Del Rio Sector release identified Comstock Station as the arresting unit; a separate social media post attributed the apprehension to a different station, a discrepancy that CBP had not publicly clarified as of publication.
The suspect's name has not been released by CBP.
