Honduran National Convicted of Illegal Re-Entry After Del Rio Crossing Attempt
Christian Rodriguez Diaz, a Honduran national previously deported, was convicted of illegal re-entry after crossing into Del Rio — one of several enforcement cases in the region.

Christian Rodriguez Diaz, a Honduran national who had already been deported, was convicted for attempting to sneak back into the United States through Del Rio, Texas, adding his name to a growing list of illegal re-entry cases prosecuted out of the Western District of Texas this month.
Stephane Mujinga Elonga, a national of the Democratic Republic of Congo, was also charged with illegal re-entry in Del Rio during the same enforcement period. Court documents indicate Elonga was deported to Canada through Champlain, New York, in 2019. Authorities allege he re-entered the United States through Maine in January 2023, and his record includes a 2015 conviction for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and 2016 convictions for driving under the influence and escape.
Honduran national Santos Gabriel Bustillo-Zelaya, also known as Santos Gabriel Gonzalez, was released from the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and turned over to the custody of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, having been jailed in Bexar County for assault causing bodily injury to a family member and possession of a controlled substance. His criminal record includes six prior convictions for improper entry into the United States, one conviction for illegal re-entry, a DWI, and convictions for failure to identify, resisting arrest, and evading arrest.
Eduardo Henrrique Castron, a Honduran national, was arrested near Maverick County following a previous deportation after a conviction for second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Officials said Castron had been deported to Honduras in June 2025 following a 2023 conviction and a four-year prison sentence in Wyoming. Records also show prior convictions for controlled substance use, domestic violence, and operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.
The Del Rio arrest and charging of Elonga was among several cases processed as federal prosecutors in the Western District of Texas added new immigration enforcement filings in recent weeks. The Diaz conviction, prosecutors indicated, underscores the persistence of illegal re-entry attempts through the Del Rio crossing corridor, where Border Patrol agents and federal courts have maintained aggressive prosecution postures under ongoing federal enforcement priorities.
The cases span nationalities and crossing routes, from the Rio Grande at Del Rio to the Maine border, reflecting the geographic breadth of re-entry attempts that ultimately funnel into prosecution in the Western District's Del Rio division.
