Two Del Rio Teens Arrested for Street Racing on U.S. Highway 90
Two Del Rio teens hit 95+ mph in a white Dodge Charger and red Ford Mustang on U.S. 90 before radar caught them and officers made arrests just after 10 p.m.

A Del Rio Police Department officer patrolling near E. Gibbs Street and North Bedell Avenue heard the sound of rapid acceleration at about 10:25 p.m. on March 14. Within moments, he spotted a white Dodge Charger heading eastbound in the 1500 block of U.S. Highway 90 and began following it to clock its speed by radar.
What the officer found was a race. The Charger was locked in an acceleration contest with a red Ford Mustang, both vehicles pushing to outdistance the other. A second officer obtained radar readings confirming what the first had already suspected: both cars were traveling at speeds exceeding 95 mph on a public highway running through Del Rio.
Police conducted traffic stops and took both drivers into custody. They were identified as Anthony Isaiah San Miguel, 18, and Aiden Luis Mireles, 17. Both were charged with racing on the highway. The Dodge Charger and the Ford Mustang were towed from the scene.
San Miguel and Mireles were booked at the Del Rio Police Department and later transferred to the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility pending the magistration process. Mireles, at 17, is the younger of the two; sources have not specified whether he is being processed as a juvenile or as an adult.
The Del Rio Police Department used the arrests to issue a broader warning, stating that racing on public roadways is illegal and "extremely dangerous," putting drivers, passengers, and the public at significant risk.
U.S. Highway 90 carries heavy traffic through Del Rio, and the stretch near the 1500 block runs through a commercial corridor where late-night vehicle activity is common. No injuries or property damage were reported in connection with the incident.
