Vito Gonzalez arrested after attempting to force entry into Del Rio home

Del Rio police say they arrested 39-year-old Vito Raul Gonzalez after officers located him near the rear door of a home on the 100 block of Century Way and took him into custody without incident. The homeowner reported a man actively trying to force entry into the residence through the front door, rear door, and a window, according to the Del Rio Police Department.

The department said the call came in at approximately 3:43 p.m. on February 16, 2026. "The Del Rio Emergency Communication Division advised that a male subject was actively attempting to force entry into a residence," the police post states, and officers arrived within minutes after the homeowner provided a description of the suspect.

The homeowner supplied a detailed physical and clothing description and told officers he did not know Gonzalez and had not given him permission to be on the property. Officers located the suspect near the rear door and placed him under arrest without any reported injuries to the homeowner or officers.

City police charged Gonzalez with Burglary of a Habitation - Criminal Attempt. "Gonzalez was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Habitation (Criminal Attempt). He was transported to the Del Rio Police Department for processing and later released to the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility pending magistration," the department posted. The Facebook notice did not include a booking number, bond amount, magistrate date, or details about any property damage.
