Central Elementary Basket Bingo Rescheduled to March 12 After Flooding

Flooding in the Vinton County School District forced the Central Elementary PTO to cancel its Basket Bingo fundraiser the night it was set to run, but organizers quickly locked in a new date: March 12, one week later, at the Central Elementary cafetorium in McArthur.

The PTO announced the cancellation Wednesday morning after flooding disrupted district operations, scratching what had been billed as a Thursday evening event on March 5. The rescheduled night carries the same format and pricing structure as the original.

Doors at the cafetorium open at 5 p.m., with games beginning at 6 p.m. Attendees can play 20 games for $20, or pick up a coverall card for $2 per card. Daubers will be available at the concession stand for $2 each.

A 50/50 drawing adds another layer to the evening: tickets run $1 apiece or eight for $5. The school's Safety Patrol will also run a dessert auction during the event, giving attendees a chance to bid on treats while supporting students.

The March 12 date lands on a Thursday, keeping the same day of the week as the original booking and giving the PTO a full week to regroup after the flood-related disruption that affected the broader Vinton County School District.
