Vinton County National Bank is now the anchor tenant of a stretch of West Main Street it spent more than a year building toward. The bank's new $2.6 million facility at 203 West Main, a two-story, 7,000-square-foot building on the former McClure's Restaurant site, opened November 25, 2024, pulling all of VCNB's retail operations under one roof for the first time and repositioning one of the county's most prominent vacant parcels as a working commercial address.

The project broke ground May 31, 2023, with Randy Evans Construction of Jackson managing construction and P.W. Campbell of Pittsburgh, a firm that specializes in banking facilities and has designed other VCNB locations, handling architectural design. Construction wrapped in late 2024. The bank's former retail building at 112 West Main Street has since been converted into VCNB's corporate headquarters and administrative center.

The new building offers three drive-thru lanes and a dedicated ATM and express drop lane, a significant upgrade from the bank's previous arrangement, which operated its drive-through in a structure physically separate from the main office. Private offices on both floors give customers room for loan applications and account conversations that the old layout didn't allow. A second-floor conference room overlooks Main Street. The building also includes a children's station and a digital learning center, which the bank has positioned as community-facing resources for financial literacy beyond standard transactions.

VCNB was founded in McArthur in 1867 and now operates 16 branches across eight counties. It employs roughly 240 people countywide, making it Vinton County's second-largest private employer, with the McArthur facility housing the largest share of that workforce.

The investment lands on a Main Street that has drawn real money in recent years. Hotel McArthur's ongoing renovation and a new education center are part of the same small but visible cluster of downtown activity. VCNB's decision to plant a purpose-built, permanent building on a block that had held a shuttered restaurant is, for downtown McArthur, as concrete a signal as any economic development announcement the county has received.
