Vinton County School Board Schedules Special Executive Session for March 24
Vinton County school board called a last-minute executive session to weigh personnel action against a public employee.

The Vinton County Local School District Board of Education posted a one-day notice Monday before convening a special executive session Tuesday evening at 5 p.m. at the District Office, 307 West High St., McArthur, to consider personnel action against at least one public employee.
The notice, filed March 23, invoked Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22(G)(1), the state statute that permits public bodies to close meetings when "considering the employment, dismissal, discipline and investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee." No agenda beyond that statutory language was released, and no specific employee or position was identified in any public notice.
Executive sessions under ORC 121.22(G)(1) are closed to the public by law. The board is under no obligation to disclose the identity of the employee or the nature of any charges discussed behind closed doors, and no statement from board members or district administration was released ahead of the session.

The five-member board, listed on the district's official website as Cindy Strausbaugh, Mary Ann Hale, Amy Isaac, Charlotte McManus, and Roger Hauck, serves a district of 1,685 students across five schools, according to the most recent enrollment data available. Hale, who joined the board on January 1, 2020, serves as vice president and the board's Legislative Liaison; she holds a superintendent's license, a principal's license, and is a Certified Public Accountant who graduated from Ohio University summa cum laude.
The board's next scheduled public meeting is a regular session set for April 16, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Central Elementary, 507 Jefferson Avenue, where any actions arising from Tuesday's closed deliberations could be addressed on the record.
