Vinton County schools name Teresa Snider interim superintendent, hire middle school principal

Vinton County schools moved quickly to keep the district’s top office filled for the summer, naming Assistant Superintendent Teresa Snider interim superintendent and hiring Bill Francis as Vinton County Middle School principal in the same special meeting.

The Vinton County Local Board of Education met May 27 at 5 p.m. at the district office, 307 West High Street in McArthur, and went into executive session under Ohio law to consider employment matters. The board’s notice said members would review a possible interim superintendent, administrator hires and non-renewal of teaching contracts, signaling that the meeting was part of a broader end-of-year staffing reset rather than a single personnel move.

Snider’s appointment is effective June 1 through July 31. By turning to an administrator already inside the system, the board avoided a drawn-out interim search and placed the district’s summer decisions in the hands of someone who already knows its budget cycle, staffing needs and school-year planning. The move also reflects continuity after Superintendent Brad Silvus’ departure from the role.
