Vinton County schools set preschool registration dates for 2026-2027 program

Vinton County parents who want a preschool seat for 2026-2027 need to register at Central Elementary on May 13, South Elementary on May 14, or West Elementary on May 15, and they should bring a birth certificate, immunization record, proof of residency, income verification, a current physical, and any legal paperwork that applies. With grant-funded slots limited and priority going to 4-year-olds, missing the assigned building window could slow placement in a program that may also take some 3-year-olds when birthdates and openings allow.

The district said it has three early childhood education classrooms, one at each elementary building, and those classrooms are grant-funded for four-year-old children from families at or below 200% of the poverty level. Families at or below 100% of the poverty line attend free, those between 100% and 200% may pay tuition on a sliding scale, and families above 200% of the poverty line pay full tuition. Out-of-district families also pay full tuition. The district gives first priority to grant-funded preschool spaces, making registration timing especially important for families trying to secure one of the limited openings.

Vinton County also operates two preschool special education classrooms, one at West Elementary and one at Central Elementary, for children ages 3, 4 and 5 who need specially designed instruction. The district says preschool is offered in a variety of settings, and related services can include speech, occupational and physical therapies. That means the registration process does more than lock in a classroom assignment. It helps the district line up records and services before the school year starts.

Families can begin making preschool registration appointments online through FinalForms on May 1. The district said an active email account is required to create a FinalForms account, and families should watch for a confirmation email and click the link to verify the account. Parents who already have a student enrolled in the district should not add that child as a new student in FinalForms. Families without internet access, or those who prefer to register by phone, can call the district office at 740-596-5218, with call days assigned by last name.

For Vinton County families, the message is straightforward: the preschool process starts early, the documents matter, and the seats are limited. Getting in the right line at the right building in May will determine who is ready when the new school year begins.
