NCFC Youth Hosting Inaugural IBERCUP x ECNL International at WRAL Soccer Park
NCFC Youth will host the first IBERCUP event in the U.S. at WRAL Soccer Park over Labor Day Weekend 2026, bringing roughly 200 U11/U12 teams and an estimated $4.5M in visitor spending.

North Carolina FC Youth announced that WRAL Soccer Park will host IBERCUP x ECNL International – Raleigh, NC USA 2026 over Labor Day Weekend 2026, marking the inaugural IBERCUP tournament staged on American soil. The four-day, 7v7 min-game competition will focus on boys U11 and U12 play, with teams guaranteed six games and a mix of group and knockout rounds where every team competes for the tournament championship.
Organizers and media outlets variously describe the field as “nearly 200” U11 and U12 teams or, in an ECNL headline, “more than 200” clubs; taken together the announcements indicate approximately 200 teams from Europe, South America, Asia and the United States are expected to participate. NCFC Youth described itself as the largest youth soccer organization in the state, serving more than 17,000 local players annually, and said the event highlights WRAL Soccer Park’s reputation as a trusted home for youth soccer and premier events.
The partnership pairs ECNL with Portugal-based IBERCUP, which has organized tournaments since 2010 and has hosted thousands of teams from more than 120 countries. Filipe Rodrigues, president of IBERCUP, said, “This partnership with ECNL is an important milestone for IBERCUP. Bringing an international Ibercup tournament to the United States has long been part of our vision. Together with ECNL, we will offer young players a competitive environment that reflects the reality of international football, where performance, learning, and cultural exchange go hand in hand. We are confident this event will become a reference point for youth football in the U.S.”
ECNL framed the agreement as a long-term partnership to bring international competition into the United States. Christian Lavers, president of ECNL, said, “For nearly two decades the ECNL has brought together the best clubs in America for competition, and we are thrilled to be able to expand that mission to bring some of the best clubs across the globe here to the United States.” YouthSportsBusinessReport noted the arrangement gives ECNL a structured pathway to expose American youth players to international styles without requiring overseas travel, and emphasized that every team will play for the championship rather than being shifted into consolation brackets.

Local economic projections underline the community stakes. NCFC Youth said the tournament is expected to generate an estimated 7,000 hotel room nights and more than $4.5 million in direct visitor spending. Scott Dupree, executive director of the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance, said, “Hosting IBERCUP x ECNL International is a tremendous win for our community and our local economy. Welcoming elite soccer clubs and families from across the United States and around the world delivers meaningful economic impact for our local community, while showcasing Raleigh on a global stage as a premier destination for international youth soccer. Events of this caliber create lasting value for the sport and our region well beyond the final match. It's a milestone moment for the area, and we are grateful for the efforts of NCFC Youth to make this event possible.”
Organizers say more information on competing teams, group placements, and match schedules will be announced later. For Wake County residents, the event promises hospitality demand for hotels and restaurants, volunteer and youth-coaching opportunities, and a high-profile showcase that keeps Raleigh in rotation for international youth sport events. Expect follow-up announcements this spring with team lists, official schedules, and details on public attendance and community programming.
