North Carolina State Fair begins hiring seasonal workers in Raleigh

The job mix is broad enough to cover front-gate traffic, cash handling, exhibits and announcements. The fair is hiring head cashiers, exhibit managers, exhibit workers, competition workers, gatemen, information booth attendants, public announcers, receptionists, cash room workers, ticket sellers and ticket takers. Background checks will be done for head cashier, cash room worker and ticket seller posts, and the fair says anyone referred for a position will be contacted for a phone interview. The pay scale sits at the lower end of the fair’s staffing ladder, but it is not a one-off. A 2025 State Fair job bulletin used the same $15 to $22 hourly range for the same core temporary roles, while a separate 2026 non-sworn security posting for the fair carried a $22 to $45 range, showing how the event pays more for specialized safety work than for general admissions and operations. That staffing push matches the scale of the fair itself: WRAL said the 2026 fair will run Oct. 15-25 and noted last year’s attendance at 946,811 over 11 days, while the fair’s own blog says hundreds of staff members and vendors help run the event each year.
