Raleigh Police Detain Two After Gunfire Outside Triangle Town Center
Two people were detained Wednesday after a shootout in Triangle Town Center's parking lot left 14 evidence markers and ended in a utility pole crash in Wake Forest.

Shoppers heading to Triangle Town Center this weekend should expect an elevated Raleigh Police presence after gunfire tore through the mall's north Raleigh parking lot Wednesday, setting off a vehicle chase that stretched miles past Interstate 540 before ending with a crash into a Wake Forest utility pole.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the Triangle Town Center parking lot Wednesday afternoon. Aerial footage over the scene counted 14 evidence markers spread across the asphalt, consistent with what authorities described as a shootout between two groups. The suspect vehicle then fled north on Capital Boulevard, moving past I-540 toward Wake Forest. The chase ended around 3:55 p.m. when the vehicle struck a utility pole at South Main Street and Forestville Road. Raleigh police confirmed that vehicle was directly connected to the Triangle Town Center shooting, and two people inside were taken into custody. Neither has been publicly identified.
No shooting victims were reported. Whether anyone in the crashed vehicle sustained injuries remained unclear Wednesday evening. A stretch of South Main Street near Cimarron Parkway was closed as officers processed the scene, and Wake Forest crews worked for several hours to repair the damaged pole.
The mall itself stayed open throughout, and no entrance closures, curfews, or formal security protocol changes had been announced by Raleigh Police as of Wednesday evening. The department's investigation remains active, and no charges had been filed as of publication. Shoppers should anticipate a visible police presence on the property in the days ahead as detectives continue their work.
Wednesday's incident is not Triangle Town Center's first brush with parking-lot gun violence. In a previous case, two men in a vehicle outside the mall were involved in a shooting that turned fatal when one man's gun discharged and struck the other. The mall, anchored along Triangle Town Boulevard just south of I-540 in the Millbrook area of north Raleigh, draws heavy foot traffic from shoppers across Wake County.
