Ricardo Gonzalez Maldonado Extradited, Held Without Bond in Garner Woman's Murder
Ricardo Gonzalez Maldonado, 28, was extradited from Georgia and held without bond in the Feb. 19 shooting death of 19-year-old Jennifer Sanches Solis near Garner.

Ricardo Gonzalez Maldonado, 28, stood before a Wake County judge on March 11 facing a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of 19-year-old Jennifer Sanches Solis, whose body was found on Avery Street near Garner on Feb. 19 with multiple gunshot wounds.
Maldonado did not make it far after the killing. The Georgia Highway Patrol arrested him roughly 10 hours after Solis died, just southwest of Atlanta. He was extradited to Wake County the day before his March 11 court appearance.
At that hearing, Maldonado requested a capital defender, an appointment the judge granted, signaling that prosecutors may seek the death penalty. The judge ordered Maldonado held without bond, citing the nature of the case. His next hearing is scheduled for April 1 at the Wake County courthouse.
According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, Maldonado and Solis knew each other, though investigators have not publicly disclosed a motive.
Solis's family remembered her as "a very outgoing person who made friends and family smile, even at difficult times." A GoFundMe has been established to help cover her funeral and memorial expenses.
Solis was 19 years old.
