A woman was pistol-whipped and shot at a Poole Road smoke shop on April 9; Raleigh police are reviewing surveillance and urging witnesses to call Crime Stoppers.

A woman was pistol-whipped and shot during a fight inside a smoke shop on Poole Road in southeast Raleigh, leaving her hospitalized and triggering a criminal investigation by the Raleigh Police Department.
Officers arrived at the scene April 9 after reports of the altercation came in shortly after dark. Multiple patrol units responded to the shop, which sits along Poole Road, a busy commercial stretch mixing small retail storefronts and residential neighborhoods in the southeastern part of the city. The woman was transported to a local hospital; initial accounts from police did not characterize the gunshot wound as life-threatening.
The violence erupted from a fight inside the retail space. According to police, the victim was pistol-whipped during the confrontation before being shot. Detectives have since been canvassing the area around Poole Road, collecting witness statements, and reviewing surveillance footage gathered from cameras both inside and outside the shop in an effort to reconstruct how the altercation unfolded and identify those responsible.
No suspect descriptions or arrest charges had been publicly released as of this week. Raleigh police are urging anyone with information to contact the Raleigh Police Department directly or call Crime Stoppers. Investigators are also working to determine whether the incident was an isolated dispute or connected to a broader pattern of criminal activity at the location, a distinction that could shape the next phase of the case.
