Yuma Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect in Early-Morning Home Damage Case
A home on W. 17th Street was damaged at 12:47 a.m. on Feb. 21; Yuma police are offering $1,000 for tips leading to the suspect's arrest.

A residential structure in the 400 block of W. 17th Street in central Yuma was damaged just before 1 a.m. on Feb. 21, 2026, and the man police believe is responsible remains unidentified nearly three weeks later.
The Yuma Police Department released a photograph of the male suspect and asked the public for help identifying him in connection with Case No. 26-13889, labeled "Criminal Damage." The department attributed the release to Officer Hayato Johnson.
The damage occurred at approximately 12:47 a.m., according to the department's post. No physical description beyond the photograph was provided in the release, and no arrest had been announced as of March 12, when YPD made the public appeal.
Anyone who recognizes the man in the photograph can call the Yuma Police Department directly at (928) 783-4421. Those who want to remain anonymous can contact 78-Crime at (928) 782-7463. The department noted that tips resulting in an arrest could qualify the caller for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

The post drew public attention on social media, including a comment from one user who named a specific individual, an allegation that has not been verified by police or independently confirmed. Another commenter used the post to criticize YPD's investigative tools, calling for the department to adopt facial recognition technology to address cases like this one.
The nature and extent of the damage to the W. 17th Street property have not been publicly detailed by the department.
