A 24-year-old Bryans Road man, identified by reports as Alex Rodriguez Hines, was killed when a wrong-way driver struck his car on Indian Head Highway near the Capital Beltway overpass at about 4:30 a.m.

Prince George’s County police say a 24-year-old man from Bryans Road was killed early Friday when a vehicle traveling the wrong way struck his car on Indian Head Highway near the Capital Beltway overpass in Oxon Hill. "Hines was pronounced deceased at the scene," police investigators said, and emergency crews transported the other driver to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is leading the probe into the two-vehicle collision. "The preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Indian Head Highway approaching the Capital Beltway overpass," the unit said in a summary of its initial findings. Prince George’s County police responded to reports of the crash at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 27; the department has opened case number 26-0010050 for the incident.
Local reports identified the victim as Alex Rodriguez Hines; some accounts show a variant spelling of his middle name as Rodriquez. Officials have not released a coroner’s confirmation in the materials available to reporters, and the police have not provided a single authoritative spelling for publication pending official confirmation.
Investigators are still working to determine why the other driver entered the southbound lanes, and police have not said whether impairment, speed, or other factors contributed to the crash. The identity of the wrong-way driver has not been released and investigators have not indicated whether charges will be filed at this stage.
