Black Ops 7 Free Play Days Offer Multiplayer and Zombies Dec 16-22

Microsoft/Xbox and Treyarch/Activision ran an Xbox Free Play Days promotion that put Multiplayer and Zombies content from Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on free access “from December 16 through December 22,” Xbox News announced. Xbox Global echoed the extended availability, saying players could “enjoy even more time with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (Zombies and MP Only), unlocked until December 22,” while labeling the game “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S, Smart Delivery.”

The free window was explicitly limited to Multiplayer and Zombies content. Xbox News listed the select Multiplayer maps and seasonal modes available during the Dec promotion, including the remastered fan-favorite “Nuketown 2025,” the holiday-decorated “Sleighjacked” MP map, and the festive moshpit “Holiday Havoc.” Xbox News also named Zombies content players could try, pointing to the thriller “Ashes of the Damned.”

Xbox Global grouped Black Ops 7 with a larger Free Play Days weekend for other titles but with staggered dates. That post put NBA 2K26, WWE 2K25, PGA TOUR 2K25, Ark: Survival Ascended, and The Forgotten City on offer from Thursday December 18 until Sunday December 21 for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential members. Xbox Global separately noted that Fallout 76 was “free for all Xbox members to try from December 16 until December 23,” explicitly stating that Game Pass membership was not required for Fallout 76 during that window.

Some promotional extras and regional limits accompanied the weekend slate. Xbox News promoted NBA 2K26 with its New Gen MyCareer storyline and MyTeam features as part of the Free Play Days pitch, and also offered a WWE 2K25 purchase incentive limited to US and Canada: “Xbox players (US and Canada only) who purchase WWE 2K25 between now and January 7 will receive a 15,000 VC Pack to use in-game and a $5 Xbox Gift Card.”

The December Free Play Days block is distinct from a separate Call of Duty Free Trial posted on the official Call of Duty site for March 5 through March 9. That March window listed a broader slice of content, saying it would include “more than 25 Multiplayer maps, including fan-favorite Nuketown, plus new Season 02 maps, Torment, Sake, Nexus and the remastered Black Ops 2 classic Slums.” The Call of Duty site also listed Zombies items for the March trial: “the new Mars Survival map, two Round-Based Zombies Maps, the new Cursed Survival mode, and more.”

Account and membership caveats appeared across official pages. Xbox Global limited many Free Play Days entries to Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential tiers while explicitly exempting Fallout 76 from that requirement. The Call of Duty site added a security note: “A mobile phone number may be required to be linked to your Activision account to play Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7.”
