Body found in search for missing 14-year-old Lilly, murder probe launched

A body found in Duffryn Park has triggered a murder investigation into the death of Lilly, a 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing from Blaina. Gwent Police said the teenager was last seen on High Street at about 6.50pm on Saturday, 20 June 2026, wearing a long black dress and black sandals.

Police found the body in the Duffryn Park area of Blaina at about 10.10pm on Monday, 22 June 2026. Gwent Police have now launched a murder probe as officers continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding her death.

Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas, the senior investigating officer, said the discovery would cause distress and concern in the community. He said there was a large police presence in the area while enquiries continued, and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Officers are treating the death as suspicious and are working to establish how Lilly came to be in Duffryn Park after she was last seen on High Street two days earlier. The family has been informed, as the investigation widens across south Wales.

The case has left Blaina under close police attention as officers maintain their presence in the area and continue their enquiries. With a 14-year-old now at the centre of a murder investigation, detectives are urgently seeking information from anyone who saw Lilly, the black dress and sandals she was wearing, or anything unusual in Blaina on Saturday evening or Monday night.
