Burton, Hart Headline IBCA Players of the Week; Fishers Boys, Girls Honored
Eastern (Pekin) senior Sidney Burton and Borden senior Emma Hart each posted a double-double and closed their seasons with state titles, earning this week’s IBCA Players of the Week.

Sidney Burton of Eastern (Pekin) and Emma Hart of Borden headline the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association weekly honors after each frontcourt player posted a double-double while closing her season with an IHSAA girls’ basketball state championship, the IBCA announced in its March 3, 2026 release covering performances from Feb. 23-28.
The IBCA named seven Players of the Week for Week 17 of the 2025-26 season. District 1 honors went to Bellmont sophomore Ashley Bleke (girls) and Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger junior George Poiry (boys). District 2 winners were Roncalli junior Elliot Leffler (girls) and Indianapolis Bishop Chatard junior Ari Sahm (boys). District 3 featured three selections: Eastern (Pekin) senior Sidney Burton (girls), Borden senior Emma Hart (girls) and New Albany sophomore Noah Washington (boys).
Alongside the individual awards, the IBCA/Ballogy Team of the Week citations recognized one boys program and four girls programs for play during the Feb. 23-28 window. The Fishers boys’ team was tapped as the boys Team of the Week. The girls Teams of the Week were Center Grove, Bellmont, Eastern (Pekin) and Borden, each cited for respective performances in that Monday-through-Saturday week.

The association’s selection method was specified in the release: Players of the Week are chosen by IHSAA district, producing the Bleke/Poiry pairing for District 1, Leffler/Sahm for District 2 and Burton/Hart/Washington for District 3. Teams of the Week are cited at the discretion of the program coordinators, with former Martinsville coach Kip Staggs overseeing the boys selections and former Brownsburg coach Debbie Smiley coordinating the girls selections.
These Week 17 honors are catalogued as part of the IBCA Player of the Week program for 2025-26 and reflect all performances during the Feb. 23-28 period. Burton and Hart’s double-doubles and state titles provide the package’s most notable headlines, while the full slate of district winners and team citations captures standout contributions across Indiana high school basketball in the closing week of the season.
