Captain Antonio on Explorer Delivers 100+ lb Yellowfin and Active Inshore Bite
Captain Antonio aboard Explorer boated a MONSTER yellowfin estimated an easy 100+lbs, with multiple other yellowfin and a medium dorado added to the catch during early-March trips.

FishingNosara's March 4 entry put it plainly: "Captain Antonio and the Explorer put on a Yellowfin Tuna catching clinic in early March." The log singled out "This MONSTER is an easy 100+lbs fish:" as the standout of the trip, and added that "This was augmented by multiple yummy Yella Fellas." The Explorer’s haul on that outing included a medium-sized dorado noted in the report — "While chowing down on sushi, they also boated this medium-sized Dorado to add white meat to the menu."
The early-March string of reports shows yellowfin activity across the local charter fleet. On March 3, the Discoverer "went offshore in early March and nagged these yummy Yellowfin Tunas," the entry reads, indicating offshore action the day before the Explorer’s big fish. The month opened with the Adventurer running a make-good trip on March 1; its log entry states, "The Adventurer started March the right way with angler Tom Snyder scoring this excellent Yellowfin Tuna," naming Tom Snyder as the angler aboard that vessel.
Explorer trips between March 2 and March 4 also mixed inshore bottom fishing with offshore yellowfin. The March 2 entry noted that "The Explorer had a fun time inshore on March 2 with a stack of tasty Red Grouper scores," and even highlighted multi-hook success: "Check out this 'Yahtzee' on a four-hook drop rig:" The sequence of entries shows the same vessel working inshore on March 2 for grouper and returning to topwater/offshore yellowfin by March 4, at least according to the blog entries.

Seasonal travel context for anglers and visiting crews remains favorable in the region. Manuel Antonio’s March averages sit at Air (High) 90° F; Air (Low) 73° F; Rainfall 1.6″, and San Jose’s March averages are Air (High) 81° F; Air (Low) 65° F; Rainfall 0.8″. Regional copy accompanying travel notes also advises that in cloud and rainforest areas temperatures can range widely and that "It can rain at any time in Costa Rica (there is a lot of rainforest), and rain gear is a must!" — a reminder for those making the run to Nosara or staging through San Jose.
Taken together, the March 1–4 entries from the local charter logs document a cluster of yellowfin reports across the Adventurer, Discoverer, and Explorer, anchored by the Explorer’s "easy 100+lbs" yellowfin and the mix of inshore red grouper and a dorado that kept anglers cooking between fights.
