Chad Smith Launches Legends of 70s Course on Drumeo; Enrollment Closes March 1
Chad Smith is teaching "Legends of the '70s" on Drumeo; enrollment closes March 1 and all 24 lessons unlock March 2, with a live workshop on March 13.

Chad Smith, drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has teamed with Drumeo/Musora to release a course titled "Legends of the '70s" that opens March 2, 2026 and requires enrollment by March 1 to secure access to a live March 13 event. The Musora product page and Drummerszone both list March 2 as the class start date with all lessons unlocked that day, and multiple sites state that signing up by March 1 grants access to the live online workshop or livestream scheduled for March 13.
The course is built around 24 lessons plus playalong tracks, with lifetime access and a 90-day guarantee on purchases, according to the Musora/Drumeo product pages. Musora’s marketing copy promises students will "Improve your power, speed, grooves, and creativity on the drums," and the course-only option notes a one-time payment of $49 USD that includes the live workshop with Chad, lifetime access, the 90-day guarantee, and 30-day access to Drumeo.
Content focus is specific: Smith walks through the styles of four 1970s drummers he cites as primary influences - John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, Bill Ward of Black Sabbath, Keith Moon of The Who, and Ian Paice of Deep Purple. Drummerszone reproduces promo phrasing from Smith: "Hey, it's Chad Smith here. If you've heard any of my drumming over the years, there's one thing you should know… I was HEAVILY influenced by the drummers of the '70s." NationalToday publishes a Musora-attributed quote from Smith saying, "I'm really excited to share my knowledge and passion for these legendary drummers from the '70s."
The lessons were recorded in September 2025 when Chad spent three days at Drumeo in Vancouver, per Drummerszone, and Drumming News frames the release as "his first course in more than 30 years," emphasizing that the curriculum aims to teach groove, ghost notes, and fills while letting students "play along with Chad to build speed, endurance, and confidence." Musora lists a promotional trailer and other assets on the product page and displays a countdown timer indicating the limited-time registration window.

Musora offers an "Ultimate Legends Bundle" alongside the course-only option; the product page shows price text "$368$240 USD (Save 35%)" and explicitly states the 1-year Drumeo membership "Renews annually at $240/yr." The bundle contents are listed in detail on the page as a 1-YEAR Drumeo Membership ($240 value), a limited edition Chili-Red practice pad ($60 value), limited edition Chad Smith signature Vater drumsticks ($19 value), lifetime access to Legends of the '70s ($49 value), the live workshop with Chad, and lifetime access to three 30-Day courses titled Drummer, Chops, and Independence, plus the 90-day guarantee.
Musora also ties the course to charity: the product copy states, "When you get Legends of the '70s, you're not just taking a step to improve your drumming. You're helping kids play music. That's because proceeds from every sale will go to the Chad Smith Foundation," with proceeds earmarked for scholarships, equipment, and education for kids who otherwise would not have access. The platform context is spelled out on Drummerszone and Musora pages, noting Musora as the parent for Drumeo, Pianote, Guitareo, and Singeo and that the course will be available on the Musora app.
There is a minor discrepancy in reporting about the announcement timing: NationalToday published on Feb. 13, 2026 while Drummerszone describes the course as "announced in late February." The firm dates to act on remain March 1 for enrollment close and March 2 for full course access, with the live workshop on March 13 and proceeds benefiting the Chad Smith Foundation.
