ChatGPT hires product manager for family and older adult features

OpenAI is hiring a product manager in San Francisco for a Families role shaping ChatGPT features for families, caregivers and older adults across the company’s products. The posting places the work on the Youth Well-Being team, which already builds age prediction, parental controls and access to crisis support resources, and says safety is more important than unfettered growth. The role calls for seven or more years of product management experience, preferably in consumer or platform products, plus experience building for parents, families or trust-sensitive products. It also includes relocation assistance.

OpenAI has already started laying the groundwork. In September 2025, it rolled out parental controls for ChatGPT users, letting parents link accounts, set quiet hours and receive limited safety notifications without being able to read or monitor a teen’s conversations. It is also working toward a long-term age prediction system so ChatGPT could automatically apply teen-appropriate settings. Around the same time, OpenAI launched a multiyear effort with AARP and Older Adults Technology Services to help older adults use AI more confidently and safely, beginning with scam-spotting training and guidance that calls ChatGPT a second pair of eyes. OpenAI said AI use among older adults had doubled, while another 30 percent were excited about its potential.

The Families role is meant to build experiences that balance usefulness, simplicity, trust, safety and accessibility, and to turn user needs into products from concept through launch and iteration.
