City of Yuma Launches Free Curbside Neighborhood Cleanup Jan. 26
The City of Yuma will offer free curbside pickup of bulky household items starting Jan. 26, making it easier for city residents to dispose of furniture, appliances and yard waste.

The City of Yuma Public Works Department will begin its annual Neighborhood Cleanup program on Monday, Jan. 26, offering no-cost curbside collection of bulky household items to residents who live within Yuma city limits. The program runs from late January through early April and aims to ease disposal of large items that do not fit in regular trash service.
Yuma is divided into 10 pickup areas for the program, and each area is scheduled for one week of curbside collection. Residents should place approved items at the curb at the beginning of their neighborhood’s designated collection week and, if pickup is not immediate, leave items at the curb until collection is completed. Maps and the full 2026 Neighborhood Cleanup Pickup Schedule are available through the city’s Neighborhood Cleanup web page, or by calling Public Works at 928-373-4500.
Accepted items include old furniture, mattresses, carpets, household appliances, bagged lawn clippings, bundled tree limbs and up to five tires without rims per residential location. Tree limbs must be no longer than four feet, securely tied and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Commercial and farm tires are not eligible for pickup. Items not accepted include roofing and construction materials, tree stumps, concrete and dirt, and household hazardous wastes such as oil, pesticides, batteries and electronics. Those hazardous materials must be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste drop-off rather than left at the curb.
For many Yuma households, the cleanup program removes the burden of transporting bulky items to the landfill and provides a seasonal window to tackle spring-cleaning projects. Curbside pickup can be particularly useful for residents without access to a pickup truck or trailer, and for those who prefer a coordinated city service rather than arranging private disposal. The city’s rules on size, weight and item type are intended to keep collection crews safe and to ensure efficient routing during each neighborhood week.

The cleanup also plays a role in neighborhood appearance and health by reducing piles of unwanted materials that can attract pests or create visual blight. Residents are urged to follow the placement and bundling rules so crews can collect items quickly and prevent repeated trips to the same location.
City officials will monitor collection progress through early April and may provide updates to the schedule or pickup guidance as needed. For maps, exact dates for your neighborhood and additional details, contact Yuma Public Works at 928-373-4500 or visit the city’s Neighborhood Cleanup web page. This seasonal service gives residents a practical way to clear out large household items and keep Yuma neighborhoods looking their best.
