Congressman Balderson Secures $400,000 for Millersburg Waterline Project in Holmes County
Congressman Troy Balderson secured $400,000 to replace a Millersburg waterline, boosting supply for north Millersburg residents and Pomerene Hospital.

Congressman Troy Balderson announced that he secured $400,000 in federal funding to replace an aging waterline segment in Millersburg, a move local officials say will strengthen supply and reliability for the village’s north end and for Pomerene Hospital. The funds are earmarked to replace the existing waterline from Wooster Road North to the village limits with a new, larger line to meet current and future needs.
Village officials framed the upgrade as a public-health and growth issue. A local report noted, "Water and sewer is a vital lifeline in the expansion and growth of any town, village or city." Hoffee, speaking for the Village of Millersburg, said, "The Village of Millersburg extends its sincere appreciation to Congressman Troy Balderson for his support in securing vital federal funding for the Wooster Road Waterline Project. This investment is critical to modernizing Millersburg’s water infrastructure and ensuring adequate flow and capacity to the north end of the village. It will significantly improve system reliability for residents while strengthening the water supply that serves Pomerene Hospital, a regional health care provider for all of Holmes County and portions of Wayne County. Enhancing this essential infrastructure supports public health and community growth and positions Millersburg for long-term stability and future development."
The announcement came near the end of January and follows a pattern of community project requests that members of Congress may submit during the annual appropriations process. Balderson’s office works with local officials and county engineers to identify projects needing federal assistance across Ohio’s 12th Congressional District. The Millersburg award is distinct from several other water and sewer efforts tied to Balderson’s office in the region, including a reported $1.75 million federal grant for the Virginia Ridge-Irish Ridge Water Project serving Harrison and Brush Creek Townships and multiple certification requests submitted to Balderson’s office for larger projects in Cambridge, Muskingum County, Thornville and McConnelsville.
Those other submissions include detailed technical and funding requests that illustrate the broader infrastructure priorities in the district: a $5,000,000 request for City of Cambridge waterline upgrades, a $3,000,000 request to interconnect Muskingum County water with the Maysville Regional Water system, and a $5,000,000 request for treatment upgrades serving Northern Perry County and the Buckeye Lake region. These items are separate from the $400,000 Millersburg commitment but show the scale of needs local officials are pursuing.

Key details remain to be clarified for Millersburg residents. Local officials have not released a project timeline, contractor information, precise pipe specifications, or whether the $400,000 covers the full project cost or represents a portion of a larger budget. Village leaders and the congressman’s office will be the next sources for scheduling, procurement and disbursement updates.
For Millersburg residents, the secured funds signal a concrete step toward more reliable water service in the north village and added resilience for Pomerene Hospital. Officials are expected to finalize project plans and public timelines in the weeks ahead, at which point residents will learn when construction will begin and how work will be phased.
